Nest Nairobi has assembled a star studded panel of leading innovators, technologists and experienced industry thought leaders to discuss the future of travel technology, biggest trends and direction of innovation in the tourism and hospitality sector in Africa and globally. The forum will bring together startups, corporates, hotels, consultants, NGOs and other stakeholders to come together and discuss what they see as the next big thing in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry .
Soni Methu – Experinced Journalist
Soni Methu is an experienced journalist and African traveler. She started as a producer/editor at an international facilitating company, Vivid Features in Nairobi. She then worked as the East Africa correspondent for South Africa’s broadcaster eNews Africa. Soni has travelled to over 20 African countries while Hosting CNN’s “Inside Africa”.
Currently she spends most days and nights planning for various productions until March where she will be a production manager and senior reporter at CCTV international. If she is not writing or working she is planning a charity event or attending various art exhibitions across the country.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H Thome – Publisher of ATC News
Dr. Wolfang Thome is the publisher of ATC News , the largest aviation, travel and conservation blog from the wider Eastern African region and the Indian Ocean islands with now over 1.1 million registered readers. Dr. Thome has nearly 40 years of experience in the tourism, aviation and conservation fields in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, covering all aspects of safari operations, hotel operations and air operations. Living in Uganda since 1992 and providing quality consulting and related services to a wide range of clients, mostly from the private sector.
Mikul Shah – CEO and Founder of Eat Out
Mikul Shah is a self proclaimed foodie and travel enthusiast. He is the founder and CEO of the award winning EatOut Africa platform, Yummy Magazine & Nairobi Restaurant Week. He was also the co-founder of Pivot East winners SleepOut.com which in 2014 was listed as one of the top 15 African startups by CNN and showcased at the Web Summit in Dublin. Yahoo Travel featured SleepOut as the ‘AirBnb of Africa’. Mikul is also an active member of Nairobi’s Tech community and plays the role of a mentor, advisor and investor to several businesses and sits on the advisory board of Safaricom’s SPARK Innovation Fund.
Paul Ndichu, MD of Easy Taxi Kenya
Paul Ndichu is the CEO/Managing Director of Easy Taxi Kenya. Easy Taxi, the world’s best taxi hailing service has a presence in 420 cities in 30 countries. Educated in Mombasa and Australia, he did a stint in mobile technology with Cellulant before delving into the banking sector with CFC Stanbic/Standard Bank Group as the a transformation agent – Head, Digital. For exercise he runs and plays basketball and enjoys playing princess with his identical toddler twins, he’s also an identical twin.
Leena Gehlot, MD Real Estate/ Hospitality at Intex Construction Ltd
As the Managing Director, Leena Gehlot is responsible for JV development and negotiation, developing the Intex Real Estate portfolio circa $250m including fund-raising, legal, construction development and sales and marketing strategies. Launched Mahali Mzuri in 2013, a Virgin Limited Edition property, in partnership with Sir Richard Branson. In 2015, she launched Finch Hattons Luxury Tented Camp in 2015 which was featured in National Geographic Africa Luxury collection and Robb Report. Leenah holds a Masters of Science in Project Management from The University of Reading’s School Of Construction and Engineering.
Maurice Ireri, Maker of Flexi Grill
Maurice Ireri is a Mechatronic Engineer by profession and the founder and CEO of Contrive Industries limited. Maurice it brains behind, designer and innovator of Flexigrill, a patent pending portable barbecue grill that is easily assembled and disassembled without the use of tools in a plug and play fashion and fits in a canvas bag. Maurice very passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation and his vision is to create innovative solutions in Africa with a high impact on the community.
Estelle Verdier-Watine, MD of Jovago East Africa
The 29 year old graduate in Political Sciences, Management and Economics has undoubtedly made her mark in the ranks of young Women MDs who have mastered the sensitive balance in juggling young families and steering the company to the top. She gained vast experience in the telecommunication industry while serving as the Product Manager with Orange KENYA and previously as a Junior Analyst in the International Business Development Unit of Orange at its Headquarters in Paris. Her skills in communication development and social analysis also saw her join the United Nations (FAO) Communication Unit in Nairobi in the year 2007, before a short stint with yet another Non-Governmental Organization – Solidarités, also based in Nairobi. Before joining Jovago, the young MD had a short stint with a mobile payment start up- Cellulant- which she says spurred her interest in Start Up Businesses.
She has been at the helm of Jovago since inception; having pitched to the very first hotel featured on the website.
Samir Dave, Travel Blogger and Photographer
Samir Dave considers himself a Kenyan hobo chasing adventures, sunrises, sunsets and good whisky around the world. The truth is, he is a personal protection equipment agency in Kenya. Sam feels that all of us born in Africa have in us a sense of adventure and wanderlust. Sam’s wanderlust has been constantly looking for adventure from the rooftops of Nairobi to the rooftops of Tibet.
